The Missed Opportunities in the 2015 Republican Response
to the State of the Union
In their response to the State of the Union, Republicans should have challenged Obama’s dubious claims regarding the economic and foreign policy condition of the United States. Republicans should be taking every opportunity they have, especially in nationally televised addresses, to discuss the true condition of the country. This speech as well as the 2012 Presidential campaign and debates demonstrate the disturbing trend of Republican failure to challenge Democratic views on the state of the United States. In the future, before Republicans complain about “uninformed voters,” Republicans should first consider their own failure to educate.
